Selling Merchandise to Raise Funds

Selling Merchandise

Finding the perfect fundraising idea for your organisation is not easy; whether you're a church cleric, a non-profit staff member, or a student council president. You may want to host a sizable fundraising event, only to discover that the substantial costs of having to rent a venue, booking entertainment, and hiring a catering service are not anywhere near your organisation's budget.

You may simply be tired of organising the same sports event or tournament year after year. Worse, your supporters may no longer be too excited about your annual event. Fortunately, there is a simple solution: fundraising items or merchandise.

Why Sell Merchandise to Raise Funds?

Selling fundraising merchandise, like branded umbrellas or t-shirts, is a fantastic strategy for your organisation to generate funds for two important reasons:

  • Patrons, supporters, and donors love getting something in exchange for their generous contribution to your cause. Your patrons contribute since they believe in the work you are doing, to help make the world a better place. But every now and then, it is a good idea to shake things up and offer your supporters something in return for a donation, whether it's a delicious meal, branded drawstring backpacks, and gear that reminds them of your work or a functional item they can use at home. When you provide fun or practical fundraising product, your contributors will feel energised to donate.
  • As for your sales force, you can seek the help of the student body, athletic teams, community youth groups, or volunteers. Some fundraising efforts take months to plan and the participation of numerous teams to be successful. While larger campaigns or events have their place in any fundraising strategy, the biggest advantage of a fundraising product sale is that you can immediately recruit your beneficiaries and volunteers to make the campaign successful.

Selling fundraising items like bags, clocks, pens, and even lanyards may also be a lot of fun and provide your volunteers with the necessary experience dealing with contributors and promoting your cause.

Fundraising can be stressful, and getting more people to support your cause is not always easy. However, finding fun and practical merchandise like tote bags, caps, pens, or even mittens, can be a great strategy to add to your list.
